Elephants from the back of the park. This was one of the furthest points in the walk; those red trees in the back left are the same ones in the earlier pictures of red trees with my family members.
As I said, the train would reappear - this time in motion.
Like I wouldn't take a picture of this.
A brilliant green and rather cranky looking crocodile.
A very large snake hanging out.
A closeup of the snake's head, for a friend.
You wouldn't know it from the other pictures, but the zoo did have some exhibits open - mostly the primates, along with seals, some reptiles, and the elephant house.
And I am a sucker for baby elephants. Mind you, in this case the baby is three years old, and he did recently stop nursing - but still! Baby! To this day, I see a young elephant and I start humming "Baby mine, don't you cry,..."
A clearer view of the snake - less glowing, but crisper. It was hard to decide which photo effect was better, but in the end - at least for distant shots, I went for clarity over glow.
Another croc on the lawn.
It appears to be hungry.
Be grateful they're only lights.
The front of the elephants, complete with water bath.
A closer view of the elephants. This was one of my favourite scenes; I really liked the composition of colours and movement.
This is similar to the earlier train photo, in that the lights and the black create a very striking (to me) visual image.
Animals on the lawn.
The left side of the lawn.
The right side of the lawn.

This was a very sweet sequence. It's out of order here (in the order photographed), but basically the giraffe picks up the fallen heart and places it on the top of the tree. This very well might be my holiday card next year!
A bit more outline to the tree.
The giraffe looks around.
The giraffe picks up the heart - I assume this is the beginning of the sequence.
And on to the tree with the heart - very sweet!
More lawn animals.
A full line of the swinging monkeys from earlier. We're now looping out of the main section of lights and into the petting zoo area.
These birds formed an arch.
Is that an egg at the bottom?
Insert your own Stephen Colbert joke here.
A Halloween/harvest display felt a little out of place.
Then again, the only connection I could make to the swans was Swan Lake, which isn't very Christmas-y. Are there swans in The Nutcracker?
