Technically the Zoo Lights sign once you're inside the Oregon Zoo, but it seemed like a better album cover.
This monkey swung back and forth above the ticketing counter.
A brilliant, vivid purple tree in the parking lot.
Now we're inside the park, heading off towards the lights. What in the world is this, anyhow?
The first arch gives everyone an idea of what to expect.
A better image of the deer. Clarity was going to be an issue very quickly.
The first large wreath.
Things would move and jitter and startle you off to the sides, in the woods. Like this gorilla, which had a very spectral and rather creepy look.
Looking down on a scene from a bridge above - this, we discovered later, was in the petting zoo area of the park.
A better overview of what is to come - the lit part of the Zoo.
A little something for everyone - bright lights, a lighthouse, and a snowman.
There were two trains taking people around the park for a different view of the lights, but even though we got there when the Zoo Lights opened, the line was 45minutes. My sister quickly vetoed that idea, and we made do with just walking around.
I really liked these train photos. The outline effect and the pitch black is something I kept coming back to and loving over the course of the night.
More train. It'll be in motion later.
This dragon was stretched out over the line of people waiting to ride the train.
The dragon was blowing smoke rings.
For Laurie.
More penguins! This was the first moving display we saw where the animals were "moving", with the lights turning off and on to simulate swimming (in this case) across a long expanse of blue "water".
A snowman.
A lighthouse.
The black shadows in front of me happen to be those of my father and sister.
Bright lights.
Green starts to creep in to the trees.
The peacock's tail was moving, fanning out.
These monkeys were moving across the trees.
Just another shot of the movement.
The lights were "dripping" down the trees here. It reminded me of welding, which I don't think was the intent.
This butterlfy emerged from a crysalis, kissed a rose, and then flew away into the trees.
A hummingbird, for the field of LED flowers that was coming.
A field of flowers.
