Macintosh
Defiance with Personality

While Microsoft was creating and releasing Windows, a group of creative thinkers down in Cupertino, California, were going about things slightly differently. They, too, were opposed to the idea of a priesthood of specialists, but were also opposed to the uniformity and conformity endless rows of DOS workstations would create. The original team of creative thinkers, programmers, and dreamers at Apple Computer followed in the footsteps of J.C.R. Licklider, who wanted to see a symbiosis of man and computer to free man from the tedium

of paperwork and "activities that were mainly clerical", and instead use computers to augment man's creativity and capacity for novel thinking.

The culmination of the two Steve's (Wozniak and Jobs) and their creative team's efforts was the Macintosh.
